Hello, I’m Doug Pinter, the Head Golf Professional here
at Arrowhead Country Club. I would like to tell you how
I ended up here at Arrowhead Country Club. I grew up in
the big town of Cherry, pop.550, which is about 10 miles
north of LaSalle-Peru. I have two brothers, Brian who is
married, lives in Morton, has 2 girls and a little boy,
and Brad who recently partnered with member, Chris
Dearing at MetLife. Brad was married in September. My
parents are still living in Cherry and have been married
38 years.
I
started to play golf when I was 13. My parents would
drop me off in the morning and pick me up at dusk, this
would happen about six days a week. I loved the game of
golf and decided to play golf in high school. I won
numerous awards throughout high school such as Athlete
of the Week, Won Conference, and earned my way to state
twice. I was trying to decide where to go to college and
I finally settled on going to The Golf Academy of the
South in Orlando, Florida. The Golf Academy only takes
50 players per year throughout the entire world. They
are looking to have the top players attend. There I won
the Vardon Trophy for holding the lowest scoring average
at 68.4, played on the Ryder Cup
Team against some of the best International players at
that time, and won the school match play championship.
I received a Specialized Associate Degree in Golf
Complex Operations and Management with a special Area of
Emphasis: Golf Professional. I have many friends from
the Academy that are now on the Nation Wide Tour, The
Canadian Tour, and PGA Tour. After graduating I have
worked at Deer Park Country Club as the 1st
Assistant, Bloomington Country Club as the 1st
Assistant, Detweiller as the Head Professional, Leo
Donovan as the Head Professional, Kellogg Golf Course as
the co-1st Assistant, and The Golf Learning
Center as a Teaching Professional.
Then
I landed a job here at Arrowhead Country Club. While
working at these facilities I traveled on the mini-tours
throughout the winter months on the Moonlight Tour, The
Next Tour, Hooters Tour, and played in some Monday
qualifiers for the PGA Tour. I was close to making a
couple of the Monday qualifiers, one at the Western Open
I shot 2 under and missed the cut by one, and the other
was at The John Deere Classic I posted a round of 66 and
missed the cut by one. I still play in some Pro-Am
tournaments and will try some PGA qualifiers in the
upcoming year.
I am
happily married to my beautiful wife Lindsay. We were
married in November of 2003. She “tries” really hard to
play golf and on some days is pretty good. She is
working for Astrazeneca in the Pharmaceutical Sales
Field. In January of 2007 Lindsay and I were
blessed with twins. We went from just the two of us to
the 4 of us. The past two years have flown by and I
don’t see it slowing down in the near future. They
are now at the age where they are able to relate to us
and communicate, it’s so much fun. I love spending
time with them and watching them take on new adventures. |
